rich in biologically important omega-3, 6 & 9 fatty
acids and tocopherols (vitamin E). The dark green color and nutty aroma are characteristic of this healthy oil.

Description of the Finola hempseed variety
Finola is a short, early-blooming dioecious variety of hemp (i.e., non-drug Cannabis, with distinct male and female plants). The male plant typically begins to flower at 25-30 days after sowing, and mature females do not branch significantly, even when standing alone. Click here to down load a 2.6 MB pdf that shows the development of Finola in pictures, with special emphasis on typical morphologic features according to days after sowing. For more infomation on Finola, THC and EU regulations, click here to down load a 672 KB pdf that carefully describes the inherent problems in EU regulations that concern THC in hemp, and to understand why these regulations unfairly favor monoecious varieties of hemp over dioecious varieties, and how these regulations favor hemp varieties from Central Europe over varieties from Northern and Eastern Europe.

Finola supports biodiversity, where ever it is grown; for example, honey bees and other insects take pollen from mature male plants (above, left) . Migratory song birds fatten up on mature seeds during harvest time (above, right), while falcons and hawks feed at leisure on these smaller birds. |

There are two crops in the photo above; Finola (left) still standing after hard wind and rain in Finland, and oats (right) lodged after these typical autumn conditions. Finola's long root also allows this crop to do well under drought conditions.

Finola
produces abundant grain at high latitude (e.g., 62o
N), where other
varieties
of hemp do not. Day 96 (left) and harvesting on day 133 (right).

1000 kg and 20 kg bags of EU-certified planting seed, ready for delivery. This blue C1 lable was issued for planting seed produced in Finland. Finola is the only seed that needs to be cover in the warehouse, because the song birds will spend all winter pecking holes in the bags to get to the seed if they are not properly protected. The birds already know the nutritional value of Finola seed, which is clearly illustrate for us in the extensive nutrition analyses shown below (click on "nutrition").

Uses
Recommended use as a dietary
supplement: 1 tablespoon of Finola® oil per day on salads, cooked
or raw vegetables, potatoes, pasta, rice or just mixed
with crushed garlic as a dip for breads will provide sufficient amounts of GLA and SDA to relieve symptoms of atopic dermatitis (exzcema).
Finola® oil is erfect for
marinades, salad dressings, cold or warm sauces, patés,
or in soups. Alternatively, Finola® oil can be blended
with fruit juices or smoothies to form a nutritious power
drink. Finola® oil goes very well with the naturally acidic flavor of yogurt.
Stays fresh up to 3 months after
opening if stored in a cool (+5 C) dark
place. Freeze the bottled oil to maintain freshness over longer
periods of time. Note: freezing Finola® oil is the best way to preserve freshness and will not break the glass bottle.

Nutritional
Information on Finola® oil
Linoleic acid and alpha-linolenic
acid are the two essential fatty acids (EFAs), which make
up 75% of Finola® oil. As the name implies; these two fatty acids are
essential to human health, and must be obtained
through the daily diet. Several medical studies have shown that
consumption of these two highly unsaturated fatty acids
can have beneficial effects on many chronic and
degenerative health conditions. In addition, Finola® oil also contains
over 4% GLA (omega-6) and about 2% SDA (omega-3), which
are both rare and biochemically valuable fatty
acids. Both GLA and SDA are natural biological
metabolites of the two EFAs. Together, the total amount of omega-3 and omega-6 combined is over 80% of the fatty acids in Finola® oil. The total content of unsaturated fatty acids in Finola® oil is over 90%.
Caution! Highly unsaturated
vegetable oils are denatured by heating above 150 C,
which can result in the production of unhealthy
trans-fatty acids and peroxides. These chemical reactions are dependent on both time and temperature. In other words, the longer one cooks with Finola® oil and the higher the temperature, the more peroxides and trans-fatty acids are formed. This is why we advise to not cook with Finola® oil at high temperatures for long periods of time.

Finola® protein is approximately
1/3 albumin and 2/3 edestin. Albumin and edestin are both
high quality proteins, containing all of
the essential amino acids in
nutritionally significant amounts;
especially methionine, an essential
sulfur-containing amino that is lacking
in most other vegetable proteins. In addition, Finola® protein lacks
the trypsin inhibiting factors that reduce the nutritinal absorption of soy protein. Finola® protein is
also lacking in gluten, an allergenic protein found in wheat and some other grains.
Finola® protein is also high in arginine, the biological precurssor to nitric oxide, which supports healthy blood flow and cardiac function.

WE HAVE THE TOOLS, SO LET'S FEED THE WORLD (or at least the birds)!
Finola is another great weapon of mass production in the war on hunger and poverty. This plant is an excellent source of sustainable food, fiber and medicine. The excellent fatty acid profile in Finola® oil offers a rich source of essential fatty acids (EFAs); polyunsaturated omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. We can't make EFAs ourselves, so we have to get them from the daily diet. The EFAs are needed to produce many important things in our bodies, including optimal nerve functions throughout the brain and central nervous system. So at Finola, we're also fighting a war on ignorance, at the neuronal level, one fatty acid at a time!
